Dear Families of Communication Station,
We wanted to take a moment to address the rising concerns of the COVID-19 virus (Coronavirus), the precautions we are taking as an agency as well as the precautions we encourage you, the families, to take. We are keeping up with the Department of Health and Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations and will update you as things progress.
Our providers will contact you on a weekly basis to ask how the household is feeling. We would appreciate your honesty. They will specifically ask if anyone in the household has:
- a fever, cough or trouble breathing
- recently traveled to an area or come into contact with anyone suspected or confirmed to have infection with COVID-19 within 14 days.
- If the answer is yes to either/both questions, your sessions will be cancelled for the week and your provider will check in with you at the beginning of the following week.
- If the answer is no to either/both questions, COVID-19 exposure risk is low then your provider will most likely conduct your scheduled therapeutic sessions.
Before sessions begin: the provider will wash their hands and ask your child to wash their hands as well for at least 20 seconds.
As a friendly reminder please adhere to the following:
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
Do not shake hands.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Stay home when you are sick and remain home until fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw that tissue in the garbage.
If you are bringing your child to Communication Station in Goshen, all parents and caregivers will be strongly encouraged to wait in their cars during speech-language therapy sessions. Following the session, the provider will meet you at the door or under the office’s awning to obtain a signature for billing.
We ask that you inform us right away if you believe you have been exposed to the virus.
We will continue to update you as we receive updates and notifications. Any changes will be posted to our website: www.communicationstationny.com or on our Facebook Page: Communication Station NY.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Stay healthy!
